Growing Opportunities for Learning and Discovery — we call it GOLD for short — is our new mentoring program connecting students with industry partners and alumni.
This relationship can be as robust or casual as you would like it to be. Students and mentors can connect face to face, by phone, or online, allowing alumni and companies from anywhere in the world to participate. There are no rules or requirements once you’re matched with a mentor or student — just that you find a way to make it a mutually rewarding experience.
What do I get out of working with a mentor?
Students have the opportunity to ask questions, seek career guidance, network, and further learn about real-world expectations. You might even find an internship or a job! We want to help CEE students prepare for their time after Tech, and we may even offer networking events for Atlanta-area mentors and mentees.
How will I be matched with a mentor/student?
Pairing is an important part of the program. The pairing cycle begins in early September and runs through December. The pairing process focuses on the student’s application. Course of study, professional career goals, industries of interest, Tech organizations, specific areas of expertise, companies, and the age of the student are all considered. That means everyone will not be paired immediately and, unfortunately, some mentors or students may not be paired at all. You’ll hear from us once we’ve matched your with an appropriate mentor or student.
And please don’t worry! While “perfect” matches won’t always be possible, there will not be any “random” pairings.
